seniors
and youth are often unable to attend arts programs, museums, and cultural
events, due to low-income, transportation, or other factors. Through this community-led
program, they
explore them together. Participants select
events of interest, help coordinate transportation, and recruit participants for
free or low-cost events. Youth and seniors are experiencing new artists, art
forms, and cultures such as the Symphony, Ballet, Cultural Museum, Community and
Puppet Theatres, touring groups, and more.
Activities:
Potluck planning
sessions, Monthly birthday celebrations,
Denver
Zoo, Colorado Ballet, El Centro Su Teatro, Denver
March Powwow, Walden Family Playhouse, IMAX, CO
Historical Museum, Botanic Gardens, Museum of Nature &
Science, Speaking of Dance, movies and more...
Outcomes:
Expanding
their access to and understanding of diverse forms of art, presentation, &
culture, increases their tolerance and appreciation of difference. It also,
inspires their creative voices to continue learning, growing,
and expressing, while developing lasting connections between neighbors of diverse
backgrounds and ages.
