Outreach-to-Art

Purpose: Local seniors and youth are often unable to attend arts programs, museums, and cultural events, due to low-income, transportation, or other factors. Through this community-led program, they explore them together. Participants select events of interest, help coordinate transportation, and recruit participants for free or low-cost events. Youth and seniors are experiencing new artists, art forms, and cultures such as the Symphony, Ballet, Cultural Museum, Community and Puppet Theatres, touring groups, and more.

Activities: Potluck planning sessions, Monthly birthday celebrations, Denver Zoo, Colorado Ballet, El Centro Su Teatro, Denver March Powwow, Walden Family Playhouse, IMAX, CO Historical Museum, Botanic Gardens, Museum of Nature & Science, Speaking of Dance, movies and more...

Outcomes: Expanding their access to and understanding of diverse forms of art, presentation, & culture, increases their tolerance and appreciation of difference. It also, inspires their creative voices to continue learning, growing, and expressing, while developing lasting connections between neighbors of diverse backgrounds and ages.

"I thought I was gonna be bored, but it was really cool!"
